About JG's Nipa Hut

With over 20 years of experience cooking in several Filipino restaurants, our chefs and bakers are excited to present their vision to you and all our guests. From juicy Pork Sisig to our freshly baked Ube Hopia bread, our food will transport your tastebuds back to the islands of the Philippines.

Located at 22122 Sherman Way #101, Canoga Park, CA 91303, JG's Nipa Hut operates as a filipino restaurant serving Canoga Park in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as bakery, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Canoga Park, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–7 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach JG's Nipa Hut at (818) 347-9068; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, jgsnipahut.com.

Customers rate it 4.3 out of 5 on Google across 199 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded filipino restaurants in Canoga Park.

Really good food . I had the breakfast with the daing bangus ( a large generous piece) with 2 large substantial eggs lots of rice and came with vinegar ( which you gotto have) for very reasonable price with tax just a little over $11 bucks. Also a medium bowl of sinigang comes with it..a feast! I had dental work closeby, a root canal! (2nd visit)..figured could be my last good meal πŸ˜‹ for awhile. Returned after my dental appt and purchased to go, a combo with pansit , paksiw and 2 large pritong Gulay lumpias which seem expensive at $20.50 sold as a 3 piece combo but Tsuie?( Chewy) said it's cheaper than buying a 2 piece combo with 2 a la carte items. Delicious food, although the pancit had zero shrimp but had BBQ pork. Maybe could could use little more veggies and a lemon. Their cassava was yummy and the desserts look mouthwatering. Definitely will look forward trying other dishes but reside in the South Bay..so need wait for next dental appt ... They have a dining area separated and removed from food counter in a different area separated by a wall since the kitchen you cant see is in between . There is a bathroom to utilize and a TV but the soccer wasn't on.

🌏 EAT THE WORLD: LA 🌏 The lady behind the counter was extremely kind and was very courteous in making sure I pick out the right meal. She offered several samples to me, and even gave me a Turon on the house. She has a clear passion for Filipino food, and absolutely made this experience special. The food itself was solidβ€” nothing exceptionalβ€” but clearly made with the same tenderness and care as a homemade meal. Definitely worth a visit for anyone looking for Filipino food in the Valley

My first time eating here, out of curiosity, one of the best decisions of my life! The food is fresh, flavorful, colorful, and delicious. I had the chicken, beef, squash veggies, and the veggie lumpia over rice. I also got the plantain lumpia and the ube putoflan omg it is so bomb! So good and the food taste home-cooked. My husband is picky and he ate it. The best part of my experience is that im on ozempic so I can only eat certain foods. This food did not get me sick. Im so happy that I found a delicious option for food. I highly recommend this place πŸ’―

Tastes like home! Very welcoming and nice people. Clean, quiet, and very generous portions. Will definitely be back if I'm ever in the area again!

Eating by myself, I didn't care about atmosphere. It was clean and not noisy, which I like. Service is cafeteria style, no problem there - it keeps costs down. Didn't see the restroom, so can't report on that. I had pork adobo, braised in a traditional sauce and served with garlic fried rice and a couple of over-easy eggs. It was a generous serving, quite tasty and not unduly fatty. I'd say it's a bargain, and on my next visit I'll add a side vegetable. I also noticed a variety of packaged house-made (I assume) snacks ready to go, refrigerated as well as non-perishable, and packaged snacks from outside. A sign indicated parking in the back - I was on foot and didn't look.
